Listen to Tori Sparks sing "Cold War"

Crossing Borders LIVE, WVBR's multicultural radio concert series, is thrilled to introduce to Ithaca to Nashville singer/songwriter Tori Sparks in a special Sunday production on July 6th, 8pm, at the Lost Dog Lounge. The concert is not a radio broadcast Admission is $10. Songwriter Aro Veno will open the show.

Tori Sparks has been proclaimed a "knock-out" by the Village Voice, offering up soulful vocals, zany humor, "sparkling songcraft", and fabulous musicianship. Her new release, Under This Yellow Sun, has been showered with acclaim and after breaking the Top 100 on the RIYL Weighted College Charts, the album was immediately released by MTV, Lifetime, and the Oxygen network for use in their 2008 television series. Sparks was also contacted by Universal Music France for inclusion of the single "Cold War" for their double disc international compilation Cd released in March 2008. The single was also featured on the Paste Magazine New Music Sampler along with tracks by Nada Surf and Elvis Costello.

Tori has shared the stage with Justin Townes Earle, Garrison Starr, Rachael Sage, Maria Muldaur, John & Mary of 10,000 Maniacs, and many more on her relentless touring schedule. She has also been active as organizer and participant in benefit concerts on behalf of the National Federation of the Blind, F.A.C.E., The March of Dimes, and the One Campaign.

Sparks has really stepped it up. Those are the songwriting skills of someone like Roseanne Cash...Providence, RI (from Under this Yellow Sun) has Springsteen a la Nebraska on the Edge of Town magic about it. Tori really blew me away with this record!

.this girl hurls you onto planet Sparks and leaves you there.you'll listen to (Under this Yellow Sun) once, then you'll listen to it a second time and also a third.she is truly one of the most original artists I have heard in a long, long time.

-Rebecca Rego, Music News Nashville

Sparks' bluesy vocals and intensely rhythmic groove paints a sexy and sultry sound that's a joy to hear in any venue...this 24 year old songstress rocked the room, drew listeners from the back to the stage front and pulled people in from off the street to hear her.
